Particles
dust transmits various chemical and biological substances, including Corona viruses
able to float in the air we breathe for several hours, days,
or weeks. During our lifetime, we inhale an average of 18 kilograms
such dust particles without us perceiving this process. Our bodies
they are not adapted to the perception of invisible dusts that are
a natural part of ecosystems, or human-made dust
activities.
Exhibition
The dustbin extends beyond the Galerie Architektury and invites
visitors to a site-specific workshop in the most affected places in Brno
air pollution. The workshop will take place as a guided walk
collecting dust to fine-tune our senses so that they are capable
to see, smell and perceive the invisible dust we breathe. In cooperation with
The Dusts Institute workshop will actively involve participants in collecting dust with
to understand the cultural, political and environmental aspects of pollution
air and as such dusts interact with our body. Dust particles
they will aggregate during the workshop as real material out of thin air which
we breathe on instruments - PraCHytách - located in various places in
Brno. By transforming otherwise invisible dust into something visible and tangible
art objects we will gradually shift our attention to concepts and
contexts that will help us understand the impact of humans on the environment
