Until BUT architecture students return to Pelhřimov for the fifth time. In previous years, by restoring the old import route, they created an imaginary cross-road in the landscape or symbolically inhabited the remains of the original buildings with shelters. The theme of this year's non-traditional summer school is the border between the world of the living and the dead, i.e. the present and the past.

Fourteen future architects will clear the existing cemetery of overgrown vegetation and in their designs, they respond to the remains of the cemetery wall, non-existent gates or specific grave sites and fallen tombstones. The students' task will be to use their designs to highlight and draw attention to the past of the place where people lived and where the church and cemetery remained the last tangible reminder. They will then construct their ideas with their own hands. For the first time in 70 years, visitors to the defunct village will be able to perceive the entire area of ??the ancient cemetery with the church in the middle, together with opinions on the question of life and death of the coming generation.

" Osoblažské Pelhřimovy is a special, mysterious, even magical place that absorbs the visitor upon first contact. It will let him experience the merciless rawness of the historical upheavals of the past century. At the same time, it is a place to which one must return. And it's no different in the case of students," explains one of the lecturers, architect Jan Mléčka. The participants of the summer school have to do without electricity, a mobile signal and a source of drinking water. They can thus experience firsthand how difficult they can be living conditions and the realization of architectural ideas without the achievements of modern technology. "Students' interest in the summer school continues to grow despite the harsh conditions. Perhaps it is precisely the rawness and authenticity of the unique place of the extinct Pelhřimov, which is a strong, authentic experience for the youngest architectural generation in a flat visual culture. Often for a lifetime," concludes Mléčka.
