The design of the new Antarctic station module in the front garden of the faculty
In the front garden of the Faculty of Architecture, a potential module for a new Antarctic station has grown over the past few weeks. Brno University of Technology, as a technological partner of the Czech Antarctic Research Program based at the MUNI Faculty of Science, presents in cooperation with Masaryk University a proposal for a module designed to support the stay of scientists on Nelson Island in Antarctica.
The built module is intended for testing architectural and technical solutions proposed by the Faculty of Architecture of BUT, including energy sources, materials that are friendly to nature and at the same time resistant to the effects of extreme conditions, and for the presentation of Czech Antarctic research.
The design and implementation of the building takes place on the premises of the Faculty of Architecture of BUT and is financed by the Czech Antarctic Foundation.
