From tracing the shifting boundaries of expertise between architects and real estate media strategists, to reading real estate language as an alternative construction site for the making of buildings and cities and unpacking the role of blockchain in perpetuating for new modes of land and real estate speculation, the lecture will be organised around the question—what are the relationships between architecture and its property regimes, buildings and their real estate fictions, the physical and the digital, and how are architects and urban planners to mediate these materialities critically?
The series of lectures will take place every Wednesday in cooperation between TIC Brno and the Faculty of Architecture of the Brno University of Technology.

Marija Maric is an architect, researcher and postdoctoral research associate at the Master in Architecture programme, University of Luxembourg. In 2020, she obtained her doctoral degree from the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta), ETH Zurich. Her dissertation, titled ‘Real Estate Fiction. Branding Industries and the Construction of Global Urban Imaginaries’ examined the role of communication strategists in the mediation, design and globalisation of the built environment. Before joining the University of Luxembourg, Marija taught at the Department of Architecture, ETH Zurich. Her work has been published in books and journals, including Log, ARCH+, Thresholds, CARTHA, the SITE Magazine, to name just some, and presented at institutions such as UCL, TU Delft, TU Graz, University of Leeds, University of Nottingham, Goethe University, HKW Berlin, MAO Ljubljana, University of Chicago, and others. Marija’s research is organised around the questions of architecture, real estate, media, and the production of built environment and urban imaginaries in the context of global capitalism and global flow of information.
